Qingdao "shakes hands" with the world: 334 forei

Last year Qingdao government statistics shows that the couples registered
for marriage in 2004 amount to more than 140,000, 24% higher than that of 2003;
those registered for divorce amount to 12,000, a sharp increase of 43% compared
with the year before. The two figures are the highest in the past two decades.
In addition, 353 transnational couples have registered for marriage, 18 more
than last year, with the increased proportion of foreign sons-in-law.
Among the 353 foreign marriages in 2004, 334 foreign boys have married
Qingdao girls. Those "yangnüxu (foreign sons-in-law)" and "yangxifu (foreign
daughters-in-law)" come from all the continents around the world. Nearly 50
American boys and girls settled here last year. There are also those who come
from countries like Nigeria, Vietnam, and Greece that transnational marriage has
never covered before.
Japan and South Korea are the major countries where the brides and
bridegrooms come. At the same time, nearly 3 out of 10 foreign brides and
bridegrooms are from the USA, Canada, Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Denmark
and the Netherlands, increasing the European and American marriages with Qingdao
citizens. The average age of the yangnüxu is 30, and the differences between the
couples in other respects like incomes and education are much smaller than

记者从市民政局获悉，2004年我市结婚登记的新人超过14.8万人，比2003年增长了24％；离婚登记的人数1.2万人，比2003年剧增了43％。这两个数字均创岛城20年来的新高。另外，2004年我市共有353对"跨国新人"办理了结婚登记，比前年多出18对，其中洋女婿比例有所攀升。
岛城"牵手"世界
据介绍，2004年我市共办理了353对涉外婚姻登记，其中334个洋女婿娶了青岛姑娘。岛城的"洋女婿"、"洋媳妇"来自30多个国家和地区，涉及除南极洲以外的所有大陆。全年仅美国小伙或姑娘就有近50个进了岛城的门，还有尼日利亚、吉尔吉斯坦、越南、希腊等以前涉外婚姻从未涉及的国家。
专家分析说，日本、韩国仍是我市市民最大的"亲家"，与此同时，岛城与欧美国家"联姻"的比重日渐上升，目前近三成的境外新郎或新娘来自美国、加拿大、澳大利亚、法国、德国、意大利、丹麦、荷兰等国。据介绍，岛城洋女婿平均年龄在30岁左右，夫妻双方在年龄、收入、文化层次上的差距明显缩小。
