Rural migrant workers have already become an essential part of city life

Rural migrant workers have already become an essential p
art of city life. These workers come from all over China, leaving their homes far behind to come to Qingdao, struggling for a living in a strange city, all with the dream of trading their blood, sweat and tears for a better life. In this familiar, yet foreign metropolis, they are seen, and see themselves as living on the edge of mainstream society. However, they made their contribution to the rapid development of the city with their intelligence and wisdoms.

With the Chinese lunar New Year nearing, one can see the overwhelming presence of such workers in departure halls from the railway station to long-distance bus stations. The unwavering importance of reunion during this winter holiday brings them home regardless of how busy they might be with their new city lives.

Another year has passed, it has been a year of hardship and of hope, filling their palates with the bitter-sweet flavor of city life, but in the end each person is left with some return on all they gave. During this season of homecoming, their bags are loaded with reward, and their hearts, anxious joy. (Li Xiaohua)
