The Qingdao Yngling Sailing team to be founded
The Qingdao Yngling Sailing t
eam was founded recently. It will represent
China to compete in the 2008 Olympic Sailing Competition.
Xia Geng, major of Qingdao, along with other governmental officials
attended the founding ceremony.
The 6.35 meters long and 1.73 meters wide Ynling boat has a 14 square
meters sail and controlled by 3 people. With a total weight of 200 kg to 230 kg,
it is fit for women and youngsters. The 2004 Athens Olympics formally adopted
the Yngling Sailing competition. The Qingdao Tiantai Yngling Sailing Team will
perform in the 2008 Beijing Olympics as the host team. Its foundation will help
circulate the knowledge of sailing competition as well as build Qingdao's image
in the future Olympics. (Li Xiaohua)

鹰铃级帆船为３人操纵的龙骨型帆船，长６米３５，宽１米７３，帆面积１４平方米，船重２００公斤到２３０公斤。此船适合女子或青少年开展运动。鹰铃级帆船运动在北欧地区较为普及，２００４年雅典奥运会被列为比赛项目。
中国青岛天泰2008鹰铃级帆船队的建立将有助于奥运会帆船比赛的相关知识的传播，及青岛在即将到来的奥运会中城市形象的提升。
