¡¡¡¡JINAN, Nov. 9 (Xinhuanet) -- East China's Shandong Province has vaccinated
nearly 200 million fowls, or one fifth of its total, according to the provincial
headquarters for control of the highly pathogenic bird flu.
¡¡¡¡A major poultry raising base in China, Shandong breeds 14.7 pe
rcent of the
total fowls across the country, with its fowl exports making up 50 percent of
the nation's total.
¡¡¡¡The headquarters said Shandong plans to vaccinate all of its fowls, a
process that will last until mid-November.
¡¡¡¡Meanwhile, the province has done a good job disinfecting its border areas,
large poultry farms and areas where wild migratory birds pass. It has
disinfected 200 million square meters of poultry farms, fowl slaughter and
refrigerating houses and fowl markets, the headquarters said.
¡¡¡¡In a bid to intensify cross-regional inspection and quarantine,Shandong has
established 111 round-the-clock animal quarantine stations on roads adjacent to
