JINAN, East China, Sept. 13 (Xinhuanet) -- China international striker Li Jinyu is likely to miss the rest of the season, his club Shandong Luneng said on Tuesday.

　　The 28-year-old Li broke a toe in his left foot during a Chinese Super League match against Dalian Shide on Augu st 31.

　　"What makes the problem more tricky is that he cannot receive operation treatment, so it will take a longer period to recover," said a club official.

　　Li was out of action for eight months last year due to a knee ligament injury.

　　Li's absence will be a serious blow for Shandong when it hosts defending champion Al Ittihad Wednesday night in the first leg of the Asian Football Champions League quarterfinals. The return fixture will take place a week later in Jeddah.

　　Last year's China FA Cup winner, Shandong now is in fifth placein the 14-team Chinese Super League, 16 points adrift from leader Dalian Shide. Enditem
