On June 9, the construction of the Huiyu Global Big Data Application Research Center commenced in the Lingshan Bay Film And Television Culture Industry Zone in the West Coast New Area of Qingdao. 4 organizations namely China Mobile, Dalian Huaxin, Beijing Mingshi and Ocean University of China signed agreements on the same day to locate themselves in the Huiyu Global Big Data Application Research and Demonstration Industrial Base.
In October 2014, the Huiyu Global Big Data Industrial Base settled down in the Lingshan Bay Film and Television Culture Industry Zone in the West Coast New Area of Qingdao. And the overall planning of “Chinese Data Capital” and “268 Structure” has been made, including building up 6 industrial categories such as urban experimental sites in the future and new big data scientific and technological industrial cities and providing 8 kinds of intelligent services such as intelligent building, intelligent housing and accommodation, intelligent housekeeping, intelligent health and intelligent transportation etc.
As the essential part of Huiyu Global Big Data Industrial Base, the Huiyu Global Big Data Application Research Center, under construction now, will attract the investment of 1 billion Yuan and will be put into use in 2018. Regarding this research center, the main function is office and incubator, it is positioned as the bond and main center for connecting governments of different levels, enterprises, universities, capital and entrepreneurial enterprises with each other and it will be built into a large-scale leading innovation platform in 5 aspects namely discipline, academics, technology, industry and mechanism.
“Huiyu” is the Chinese brand name of Hewlett Packard Enterprise (abbreviated as HPE). In October 2015, HP was divided into HPE and HPI, two separate listed companies. Huiyu specializes in server, storage, big data, software and enterprise services etc.while HPI operates the business of private computer and printer.

Stanford University is building a united lab in Qingdao
On June 13, Stanford University of America and Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (BUAA) signed an agreement in Qingdao. They agreed to jointly construct the “ United Laboratory of Self-spinning Sensor Between BUAA Goertek Microelectronics Research Institute and Magnetic Nanotechnology Center of Stanford University”.
The lab is based on the cooperation between China and America defined in the Sino-America education exchange and cooperation agreement updated in 2014. Within the extensive Sino-America cooperation framework, the Magnetic Nanotechnology Center of Stanford University and the BUAA Goertek Microelectronics Research Institute plans to specially draw up exchange and cooperation schemes in higher education and research field of their common concern. The two parties will develop common research programs in terms of spintronics, sensor and NT engineering and put their emphasis on the research of neuron sensor and spintronic sensor. Qian Zhuo
A Russian academician is creating her own business in Qingdao
For Galina, the 72-year-old academician of the Russian Academy of Mining Science, Qingdao is not only a “green” and “vigorous”city but also a place where her dream has come true.
In the spring of 2013, Galina came to visit Qingdao on invitation. In the same spring, Qingdao Zhirui New Materials Co., Ltd., a sino-foreign joint venture where she assumed the office of shareholder and chief scientist was registered. From then on every year Galina spent half a year in Qingdao on making scientific research.
In 2015, the project of “Industrial Microorganism and Albumen Compound Gold Leaching Process Technology” led by her was selected as one key project conducted by foreign experts and approved as the special international science and technology cooperation project. In 2016, she led her team and entered Qingdao Academician Intelligent Valley. Since then her company embraced the acceleration period of business, research and development. In the same year the research project led by her was approved and the project achievements have been partially industrialized.
Because of her outstanding work, Galina was conferred the Chinese government “Award of Friendship”. Under her persuasion and inspiration, Oxana, her oldest daughter and doctor in biology who used to work in Greece also joined her research and development team in Zhirui New Materials. Qingdao New Airport will be covered with the largest metal roof in the world
The Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport Terminal project has currently entered the phase of secondary structure and interior refined decoration. Trial fitting and installation on the stainless steel roof of the new airport terminal A airside concourse has started. It marks that the metal roof works with an area of 220,000 square meters has formally started. It is expected that the installation on the airside concourse and hall (Non-influence Zone) will be partially completed before the end of this year. In the middle of 2018, the entire stainless roof of the terminal will be completed. At that time, the largest one-piece stainless steel roof in the world will be born.
In recent years the stainless steel welding system has been widely used as a new generation of metal roof system in Europe and Japan. Its most remarkable characteristic is that all the joints on the roof are soldered with automatic welding machine and the entire structural airtightness of the roof can be achieved. Leakage won’t happen even if the roof joints are immersed into water.This way the recurring problem of leakage very likely to occur on conventional metal roof can be resolved. It is said that the roofing system in the Qingdao new airport terminal is made of 0.5 mm wide 445J2 hyper pure ferrite stainless steel, the corrosion resistance property of which is better than that of 316 stainless steel. This stainless steel is extremely adaptable to the coastal environment with high salinity and humidity. Its service life period is much longer than that of aluminum alloy roof and Al-Zn alloy coated steel sheet roof.
