Qingdao cold chain logistics construction formed a pretty large scale after many years of development, and its infrastructure is steadily improving.

    Qingdao agricultural product exports has ranked 1st in China for many years. Qingdao has many high-level installation agriculture, scale farming and characteristic agriculture production bases and export-processing base. Agricultural product exports of Qingdao share 8% of the national total value, the annual export value exceeds USD 5 billion, and target areas cover over 140 countries and regions. With the growth of fresh agricultural products production, demand and sales, cold chain logistics also witness fast growth. According to initial statistics, the percentage of vegetable/fruit, meat and aquatic products of Qingdao transported through the cold chain reach to 20%, 33%, and 40% respectively, and the number is 25%, 40% and 50% for refrigeration. The corrosion rate drop to 19%, 6% and 9% respectively.

    In recent years, a batch of key cold chain projects of Qingdao experienced rapid construction. The Northern China (Qingdao) International Aquatic Product Exchange Center & Cold Chain Logistics Base project covers an area of 12.26 square kilometers with CNY 10.17 billion total investment. It plans to build facilities, including fishing ports, exchange centers, frozen and refrigeration base, aquatic product processing base, logistics park and far-ocean fishing boat whole set equipment base, after completion,as many as 3-5 million tons of fish will be unloaded here, forming a 100-billion industry chain, to be the largest international aquatic product exchange center in northern China, and one of key international aquatic product exchange centers in Northeastern Asia.
