In the past few years, Qingdao has constantly improved-the public service system and provides diverse products and services to meet personalized sports and fitness demand of citizens. Now the city has basically established the 8-minute fitness circle for urban communities. By the end of last year, the average sports area of Qingdao reached2.5 sqm, far more than the national average. Over 48.5% of Qingdao people often join sports exercise. Anincreasing number of senior citizens have joined the fitness group. The public sports stadium is open to the public for free or low price in designated times lots, and over 3 million peoplehave joined the fitness every year.
In 2016, Qingdao made the National Fitness Plan in the 13th Five-Year-Plan of Qingdao to show the theme that Participating in Exercise by All People to Make All People More Healthy and Happy. The city has held over 40 municipal-level or above and over 300 district-level national fitness activities. By the end of 2016, Qingdao has over 50 non-governmental non-profit sports associations and 268 non-government non-profit sports clubs. These non-government sports organizations have played active roles in sports project promotion, sports public interest, and sports training and sports event organization. The 2016 Asia Aerobics Festival and the 5th National Aerobics final contest held by the Qingdao Municipal Aerobics Association have attracted nearly 10,000 people from all over China and Asia.
Qingdao also made good plans for football facilities development. The city currently has 913 football playgrounds, 4 football stadiums for professional football games, and 249 cage football stadiums are newly established, another 500 football stadiums will be built in the 13th Five-Year Plan period.
