On March 7th, the E30 tube, the last giant immersed tub of the submarine tunnel of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Project, has been successfully installed. All vital technological indicators including axis, longitudinal slope, bow and tail height difference could meet design criteria. So far under the on scene command of the China Communications Construction Co., Ltd. (CCCC), the immersed tube installation team from No. 2 Company of CCCC First Harbor Engineering Co., Ltd., has finished installing 33 immersed tubes, the largest volume in the world, and the total length of already built tunnel has reached 5,652m and only 12m is missing from the final closure.
With the length of 5,664m, the submarine tunnel of Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge is composed of 33 giant immersed tubes and 1 joint. The tunnel is the largest highway immersed tunnel in the world and the only deeply buried immersed tunnel as well as the only immersed tunnel in Chinese open seas. In early 2013, the No. 2 Company of CCCC First Harbor Engineering Co., Ltd. started undertaking the installation task of immersed tunnel of Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and is responsible for foundation construction, floating transfer installation and measurement etc. Afterwards, the company rapidly organized a craftsman team of “Qingdao Brand”.
The immersed tube installation is a key procedure of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and is the core part of “high-grade, precision and advanced” technologies. As the last giant immersed tube of the submarine tunnel and located on the east side of the tunnel closure, E30 immersed tube, 171m long, is a specially-shaped curve and looks like a trapezoid as a whole as well as the last strategic pass before guaranteeing the final installation of closure. Among 33 immersed tubes, the E30 tube is subject to the most limitations, the most difficult construction and highest precision. Therefore it can be called “set the tune with one beat of the gong -- give the final word”. It is said that in the process of installing 33 immersed tube for nearly 4 years, the No. 2 Company of CCCC First Harbor Engineering Co., Ltd., has constantly conducted scientific research and innovation, overcome difficulties, successfully developed and applied 8 safeguard systems of tube immersion, floating transfer and handling with the international leading level, has successively overcome many world-class difficulties including deep water and groove, strong back-silting and large run-off etc. as well as the technical problem of installing super giant curve immersed tubes. In 2015, the company created the “Speed of China” by installing 10 tubes within one year.
On the same day when the E30 immersed tube was installed, the steel structure of final closure has arrived in Zhuhai after long distance transport from Shanghai Zhenhua Nantong Base. It will be grouted in Guishan immersed tube prefabrication factory and then the suitable window phase will be chosen and it will be hoisted with a 1,200 tons crane, the largest in the world. It is expected to conduct immersed installation this April and realize the connection of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge. The Liang Jianying is the deputy general manager and chief engineer of CRRC Qingdao Sifang Co., Ltd. Liang Jianying is an outstanding woman who constantly seeks innovation and progress.
On July 1995, Liang Jianying graduated from the Shanghai Railway University and was allocated to work in CRRC Qingdao Sifang Co., Ltd. In 2004, Liang Jianying became the chief designer of 300-350km/h motor train unit R&D and design project. Liang Jianying said high-speed train technology was a brand new subject for their team at that time but a series of difficult problems appeared one by one when they really put their heart into it.
In order to overcome difficulties, in over 1,000 days and nights, Liang Jianying and her design team turned various design thoughts and piles of data into feasible drawings by systematical sorting, simulated analysis, and experimental verification.
Liang Jianying said during those days she couldn’t spare time and effort to take good care of her young daughter. Once Liang Jianying suddenly received a call from her daughter who said nothing but just wanted to have a meal together with mom. However, at the critical moment of research and development, Liang Jianliang couldn’t meet such a small request.
On December 2017, after successfully overcoming many technological barriers including aerodynamics, system integration, train body, and bogie, the first Chinese domestic motor train unit with the hourly speed of 350km independently developed by CRRC Qingdao Sifang Co., Ltd., was completed off the assembly line. Liang Jianying can still remember one evening her daughter pointed a flying motor train unit on TV and shouted loudly with her soft and young voice“Mom, it is your train.” Liang Jianying said at that moment she felt very proud and a strong sense of achievement as well as guilty for her daughter and family but without any regret.
On June 2008, Liang Yingjian assumed the design task of CRH380A new generation high-speed motor train unit. As the high-speed motor train unit of a new generation, CRH380A can be operated at the highest speed of 380km per hour and is the high-speed motor train unit with the highest technical grade in the world. Liang Jianying faced a huge challenge of climbing the summit of world railway transportation equipment technology.
For this purpose, Liang Jianying and her team members went around China and made experiments. In the research and development process of CRH380A high-speed motor train unit, Liang Jianying and her team made countless experiments. Route experimental investigation for 2 years has been made on Beijing-Tianjin, Wuhan-Guangzhou and Zhengzhou-Xian Railway. After over 450 simulating calculation, 1,050 ground tests and 2,800 route tests; the CRH380A high-speed motor train unit of a new generation has been successfully developed.
In 2012, the Liang Jianying assumed the office of deputy general manager and chief engineer of CRRC Qingdao Sifang Co., Ltd. Besides research and development, Liang Jianying has also led her team to act on international convention.
In 2014, the Sino-Germany Joint Transportation Technology Research and Development Center was prepared for construction. Liang Jianying led her team to go abroad for many times to visit teams with intent and held video and telephone conference continuously in China. Because of the time difference in the two countries, sometimes it was midnight when the conference ended. With the efforts of Liang Jianying for over 2 years, the Sino-Germany Joint Transportation Technology Research and Development Center was finally founded. She also successively established Sino-Thailand, Sino-Britain Joint Railway Transportation Technology Research and Development Center and let the technology go abroad first to lead the Chinese high-speed railway “sail and set off the sea”.
