On November 16th, the Qingdao-Rongcheng intercity railway, the first intercity high speed railway connecting coastal cities in Shandong Province with each other including Qingdao, Yantai and Weihai, was officially put into operation across all the line.
With the total length of 302,757 miles, the Qingdao-Rongcheng Railway starts from Qingdao North Station and ends in Rongcheng, Weihai and there are 14 railway stations. The initial operating speed is 200 km per hour. 18 pairs of “C” Labeled intercity trains will run, including 3 pairs in rush hours and 3 pairs on the weekend. It will operate in echelon like buses from 6 am to 6:20 pm.
After the Qingdao-Rongcheng Railway fully opened to the traffic, the geographical distance among Qingdao, Yantai and Weihai will be greatly shortened and the “1 hour economic circle” centered by Qingdao is formed. The Qingdao-Rongcheng Intercity Railway connects the blue economic zones and belts with each other in Shandong Province, realizes the rapid transport between Shandong coastal areas and inland areas and injects new vitality for industrial structural upgrade and optimization and regional economic development. In addition, the network of rapid high-speed railway can enable the tourism industry across the line to upgrade on a full scale.
