The 2016 World Airport Cities Conference was held in Shangri-la Hotel, Qingdao from November 15th to 17th.
Closely focusing on the theme, the conference has set up several topics for discussion, which basically involve the latest development and core concepts of airport economic development in the world. The topics mainly include the fundamental principles of an airport city and airport metropolis, the investment and planning of airport cities and airport metropolis, the strategies of building Qingdao into an airport metropolis, the strategy of expanding aviation services and the development of airport cities, how to manage airport cities and how to make airport cities become an important engine source of non-aviation income, how to attract biological medicine and logistic industry to cluster in the airport metropolis.
The conference has attracted over 400 Chinese and foreign attendees, including senior delegates from over 20 countries and 30 airport operators. Meanwhile, the attendees also include senior government officials, real estate developers, representatives of important commercial partners of the development of airport cities and metropolis including financial and investment institutions, economic development institutions, planning and building institutions and professional consultants.
The World Airport Cities Conference is one of the most influential conferences in the global civil aviation field. Since the founding in 2002, the conference has been held for the 14th consecutive year successively in Denver, America, Frankfurt, and Germany. China has hosted the conference in three years respectively in Hong Kong, Beijing and Chengdu in 2006, 2010 and 2015.
