The High-yield Super Rice Research Base located in Rizhao, Shandong Porvince established by Qingdao Yuance Biology Science Co., Ltd., has once again set up a new record that the maximum yield per mu of hybridized rice at the highest latitude reaches 980.43kgs.
Located nearby the northern latitude 36°, this high-yield hybridized rice research base is the trial area of growing super rice at the highest latitude in the world. The base is under the personal guidance of Yuan Longping, the father of hybridized rice and his team. In 2014, the yield per mu reached 968.37kgs, which set up a new world record for the yield per mu of hybridized rice at the highest latitude. This year, the “Supreme 1000” hybridized rice species produces 8.77kgs more than the world record of 971.66kgs set up last year.
Academician Yuan Longping said: “Under the favorable climate conditions, it is not inconcievable that the yield per mu can exceed 1,000kgs.”
