The Qingdao Municipal Downtown Public Service Facilities Companion Standard and Program Guidelines (Trial Implementation) have recently initiated revision. The Qingdao public service facilities supporting standard will be further elevated to better meet the requirements of developing Qingdao into an international city.
The revision, as an upgrade based on the previous guidelines implemented in 2010, will give full considerations to the specific urban development stage and citizens’ demand and be compatible with the updated national standard of downtown public service facilities. It will involve ecological environment, medical treatment and public health, culture and sports, and commercial services. To fulfill the requirements for developing Qingdao into an international city, in the process of standard and guideline formulation and revision, many domestic and foreign advanced cities will be compared and the current situation and development trend of Qingdao will be adequately considered to make sure the finally-formulated standard will be both practicable and forward-looking.
“In the last edition of Standard and Guidelines, part of the Qingdao public services companion standard is already very advanced. During this round of revision, we will mainly address insufficiency.” Related urban planning experts told us that many problems such as car parking difficulty in old downtown and commercial areas would have solutions in this round of revision.
