Eco-park line 9, the 1st sponge road in the Qingdao Sino-Germany Eco-Park has recently been built. The road adopts 10 sponge city technologies to be the 1st road in Shandong Province with the OGFC surface (water-discharging and noise-reducing bituminous pavement), which is the road, adopting most sponge city technologies.
The Eco-Park Line 9 with the total length of 241 meters is used for internal transportation of the region. Seeping, Keeping, Reserving, Cleaning, Using and Discharging (Water) principle was followed during the construction period, low elevation greenbelt, gap type road edge stone, permeable laying, water gathering module, seeping tube, spill pit and other sponge city technologies were adopted to make full use of rain water.
Compared with the single-digit porosity of normal road, the porosity of OGFC road is much higher, 20% porosity enables fast water filtration, as well as a higher anti-slide performance, water fog resistance, blanching resistance and glare reduction performance. Vehicle roads can filter initial rainwater with the OGFC surface; pedestrian walk and bike lanes alongside the road all adopt the water filtration surface laying for faster rainwater filtration speed. In addition, the low elevation greenbelt is placed alongside both sides of the road. Filtered water gathering well and rainwater reserve module are installed in the bottom; the rainwater can filtrate after gathered.
With the help of the high porosity of the road, it also can reduce noise. According to statistics released by labs of transportation department, the road can reduce 3-5 db when the vehicle speed reaches 100-120km/h.
