| At 12:20 of Dec. 28th, 2014, as the D6091 train was slowly pulling out of Jimo station, Qingdao, the Qingdao-Rongcheng intercity railway (the section between Jimo and Rongcheng) formally opened to traffic, providing another high speed access for Qingdao citizens. It is expected that the section between Qingdao and Jimo will open for operation in 2015, which will make the living in the same city of “one hour life circle” in Jiaodong peninsula gradually come true. The intercity railway from Qingdao to Rongcheng, which will go through 17 districts (towns) in the three cities of Qingdao, Yantai and Weihai in Shandong Provinc, is the “golden corridor” for promoting the development of the blue economy zone in Jiaodong peninsula. The newly-opened section from Rongcheng, Weihai to Jimo, Qingdao is 286km long all the way with a designed speed of 250 km/h and establishing 12 stations along the way. On the same day, the commencement ceremony of the Qingdao-Lian Yuangang Railway was also held in Jimo North Station of Qingdao. The construction of the Qingdao-Lian Yungang Railway will start in full scale and it is expected to complete and open to traffic in 4 years. Qingdao-Lian Yungang Railway is an important component of the south-north costal traffic paths of the “Five Verticals and Five Horizontals” comprehensive transport channel in Mainland China. This railway starts from Qingdao North Station, goes via Qingdao, Rizhao and ends in Ganyu North Station in Lian Yungang city of Jiangsu Province. The railway design standard is national railway I class, double-tracked electrification and the design running speed is 200 km/h. |
