The major independent innovation scientific and technological project of Qingdao “Research and Development and Equipment Industrialization of Computer-assisted Surgical Working Station” started last week.
Based on the computer digital model and using the digital medicine software developed by Qingdao Hisense Group, the project can print the suitable customized 3D mould for different patients. The related manufacturing enterprises will study the model, choose the suitable biomedical materials to reconstruct tissue or restore organs for patients.
Since this July, the affiliated hospital to Qingdao University has taken the lead in China to use the elementary model. So far, this hospital, with the aid of 3D printing technology, has given complex operations to over 20 patients including spinal fracture, spine malformation and spinal tumor etc. Wang Ping (The black objects from the left to the right are respectively 3D printed skull, cheekbone and surrounding tissues, vertebra (small-size).
